Our Committees

BCCE Port Towns Collaborative has established four committees to help achieve its goals with community input and collaboration.

Design & Beautification Committee

The Design Committee looks to make visually aesthetic improvements, preferably long-lasting, that enhance the physical assets of the built and
natural environment. A common goal is to create a safe, welcoming and attractive environment. Project examples frequently include improving streetscapes, preserving historic buildings, upgrading public spaces, drafting design guidelines, educating the community, and shaping regulations in order to provide incentives.

Economic Restructuring/Redevelopment Committee

The purpose of an Economic Restructuring Committee is to strengthen and diversify the
economic base. It focuses on business retention, recruitment, real estate development, and financial strategies to boost overall profitability and tax revenue. Projects may include: helping existing businesses expand; assisting entrepreneurs with navigating local regulations or financial incentives; identifying market gaps and recruit new
businesses to create a diverse mix of retail, dining, and services; transforming underutilized, vacant, or historic spaces into economically productive properties; gathering data on consumer trends and market demands to sharpen the commercial
district's competitive edge.

Sustainability Committee

The Sustainability Committee fosters a sustainable and resilient future by promoting environmental stewardship through collaboration, education and advocacy. Projects may include: Developing and recommending policies, programs, and practices that reduce environmental impact; promoting community engagement and education on
sustainability issues; collaborating with local organizations, businesses, and residents to
implement sustainable solutions, and encouraging the integration of sustainability principles into all aspects of town planning and operations.

Transportation & Infrastructure Committee

The Port Towns are blessed with greenspace, trails and roadways that support both pedestrian and motorized activities: the purpose of a Transportation and Infrastructure Committee is to stay engaged (i.e. develop, oversee, and advise) on policies regarding our communities’ transit systems, infrastructure, and overall mobility. This committee
can bridge the gap between transit agencies and the community, recommending solutions for public transit, road safety, and environmental impacts to local or federal governments.
